With “Les Mazets du Ventoux”, set in the village of Malaucène, in the heart of Provence, a new concept of “eco-friendly” leaseback properties is born. With residents’ well-being in mind the developer has chosen eco-friendly building materials and energy-efficient design in accordance with strict environmental criteria and government guidelines for sustainable tourism.
Managed by a highly reputable management company with properties throughout France, “Les Mazets du Ventoux” will provide an ideal setting in the heart of Provence for nature-lovers looking for a “greener” holiday environment and seeking to enjoy the health benefits of peaceful, carefully preserved natural surroundings.
The residence is about 10 minutes walking distance from the centre of the village of Malaucène.
The property:
“ Les Mazets du Ventoux”, will be a new leaseback development located within 10 minutes walking distance of the centre of Malaucène, a pretty medieval village in Provence. The residence will consist of a dozen small clusters divided into a total of 74 generously-sized one and two bedroom apartments on two levels, some of which will be duplex with a cabin area sleeping an extra two persons. There will be views over the Mont Ventoux, the Dentelles de Montmirail and the development will be surrounded by vineyards and woodlands.
There will be a large outdoor heated swimming pool, an outdoor Jaccuzzi, a sun deck, a fitness centre and a SPA. The property will be surrounded by a private park.
The apartments will be fully furnished and equipped and the interior decoration will be carefully thought out to offer warmth and comfort with wooden parquet floors in the bedrooms and typical Provençal tiles in the kitchens and bathrooms. All fittings and appliances comply with the new environmental criteria, making this the first “green” holiday resort, entirely dedicated to the enjoyment of nature.
The area:
With a population of about 2 700 souls, Malaucène is the capital of the Vaucluse, the department which best epitomizes the essence of true “Provence”. Here you will find the tall cypress trees pointing towards the bright blue skies, fields of deep-blue lavender and picturesque villages dotted around a landscape of vineyards… in the heart of the famous Côtes du Rhône wine territory (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Beaumes de Venise, Gigondas), Malaucène is partly enclosed by 14th century ramparts. The ancient village has kept a number of historic remains and monuments and is particularly known for its interesting semi Gothic, semi Romanesque church. A quiet, typical little village where time seems to have come to a standstill, yet close the lively market town of Carpentras (18 km) Avignon ( 42 km) and Orange (37 km).
Malaucene has a busy centre lined with shops, bars and restaurants. There is a weekly market and the tourism office organises a number of events revolving around the local production of wine - Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Ventoux. Of course, every neighbouring village has its own production and folklore. Throughout the year art exhibitions, concerts and folkloric events are organised for the benefit of the locals, the many tourists and part-time residents. Orange is renowned for its opera festival (Les Chorégies d’Orange), which takes place during July and August.
The farmers of the Ventoux plains produce a wide variety of summer fruit and vegetables, namely peaches, melons, pears, apricots, cherries and grapes - of course! The local markets are laden with mouth-watering produce and other local specialities such as honey, lavender, pottery and the famous Carpentras truffle - the Black Diamond at 700 EUR a kilo. The commerce of fresh truffles early in the morning at the Carpentras market is an event in itself!
During the summer months, it is possible to do your own “Tour de France” and drive up to the windy summit (1909 m) of the Mont Ventoux.
A short drive to the south will take you to the Languedoc beaches and the Camargue region; to the east is the national Luberon park with its white water sports activities, climbing, hiking etc. A little further you will come the Alpes de Haute Provence, with their ski resorts and cities such as Gap and Sisteron; west will take you into the Languedoc and the cities of Nîmes and Montpellier.
Our opinion:
Dedicated to the enjoyment of nature and built with a new respect of the environment, this interesting concept of “green” holiday residences is bound to become very popular in the coming years. The management company Nemea is experienced and professional and carries a large number of properties in its portfolio throughout France. This will be a secure leaseback investment in one of the most beautiful areas of Provence, at the gate of the Luberon valley and at the foot of the Mont Ventoux.
