The property:

This three star leaseback development will consist of 98 one and two bedroom duplex townhouses divided among 7 small clusters. They will be located within 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of the pretty canal-side village and boating port of Colombiers, situated between Beziers and Carcassonne in the heart of the welcoming Languedoc region.

The houses will be fully fitted and comfortably furnished, and the residence will have a large swimming pool, a sports ground and SPA facilities.

The area:

Colombiers is a pretty village on the banks of the Canal du Midi, 12 km from the coast and 5 minutes from the town of Beziers. Once an important stopover for vessels sailing to the Mediterranean, it is now a charming and picturesque harbour from which many of the boating expeditions up and down the canal begin. There are many historic landmarks in the village, such as the cellars in the Chateau which have been converted to provide a locale for cultural activities and entertainment throughout the season. During the winter months it becomes a community hall for villagers in this close-knit community, which is intent on keeping its traditions alive.

The 240 km-long Canal du Midi was built in the 17th century by the Beziers-born engineer Paul Riquet and is now listed as World Heritage by the Unesco. Its banks lined with plane trees through which the hot Languedoc sunshine turns gentle and tame are one of the quintessential images of southern France. Everyone dreams of taking a slow trip along the Canal du Midi once in their lifetime!

The area surrounding Colombiers has much to offer in the way of sports activities and is a paradise for ramblers and horse-riding. Beziers, Narbonne, Carcassonne and of course Montpellier are all dynamic modern cities with a rich historic past.

Our opinion:

The Languedoc is the most visited area of France after Paris and the Riviera and has much to offer tourists, the fascinating medieval city of Carcassonne, the cosmopolitan up and coming city of Montpellier, the mysterious Cathar castles, the wine routes of the Minervois and the Corbieres, long sandy beaches and the many wonders of generous and unspoiled natural surroundings. Colombiers offers peaceful surroundings to a small but active community of locals who have brought a new life to the area by creating the boating harbour and a regional nature reserve. The Domaine de l’Enserune is an intregal part of the village’s sustainable development project.
